Clean Bricks and A Roof!

Yesterday we got the official text to say that our roof had been completed. They started on Wednesday (14.1.15) and finished it off yesterday morning (15.1.15). So basically two days from start to finish for the roof.
I drove by after lunch yesterday to see how the roof looked. To my surprise there was somebody there cleaning the bricks. It was all happening yesterday! The next stage is electrical and plumbing rough in. We are yet to meet our Site Supervisor- we will do this when we go to inspect the rough ins.

The house just keeps getting better and more exciting with each stage. It is really nice to see everything coming together. I am happy that all those sleepless nights worrying about the outside colour choices were worth it. I am also happy that we managed to achieve something so nice with a brick and roof colour that was included in the price- no extras! The caoba colour for the garage door and the front door will look really nice with the rest of the outside colours too (I hope!!)

We're ready for the next stage...let's hope that it doesn't take too long...I don't think that I can wait until June to live here!

Here is our house (with a roof...and CLEAN bricks!)

Bricking Complete

On Monday (12/1/15) we received the text from MDJones to say that the brickwork on the house was complete. Great news! We also heard from our Site Supervisor to say that, weather pending, the roof is to go on next week and the fascia, gutters etc to go on this week at some stage. We have had patchy rain on and off this week, so we are hoping that nothing gets delayed.
I can't wait to see how it all comes together on the outside. You have an idea of it when you have your colour selections appointment, but you never quite know if it will all work. My fingers are crossed hoping that it all looks beautiful together.
This week I have spent my time calling and emailing to get quotes on plantation shutters for the windows and blinds for the doors. Hopefully we will have some idea of the handover date once things are rolling inside the house. Then we can get proper measurements done (if our SS is happy to let that happen) and order something that can be ready for when we move in. I really don't want to move in to the house without window coverings.

Now we're just waiting to see what the weather does and hoping that the roof etc goes up quickly!

This is how the house looks with the bricks finished...sooo exciting!

A Great Christmas Present

MDJ Homes are really flying through this construction process! We got the text to say that brickwork had commenced on the morning of 23/12/2014. I went for a drive there a bit later that morning and saw that they had done most of the left side of the house and some of the front. I was over the moon. I couldn't believe that they were still working so close to Christmas.
We managed to walk around the slab during the break (the gate was wide open). It was so exciting to be able to walk around OUR house and it felt like it was finally happening. Everything seems so much bigger when the frame is up! I was worried when they had cut the slab because I thought that it looked so small....I was sooo wrong!

This is where the house has stayed over the Christmas/ New Year break. We are hoping that they will be back into it all tomorrow (January 5th). I hope that everything continues to fly for us. We can't wait to move in! MDJ Homes have given us the rough date of June 28. I hope that it is sooner- but I won't get my hopes up. If I tell myself July then I can't be disappointed!

Here are some pictures of our beautiful (it will be!) home.
