A Garage Door..Finally!

All week I have been frustrated...just waiting for a garage door to be put on the house. We met up with somebody to measure our windows and doors for shutters and blinds on Wednesday. At that stage some plastering needed to be finished, the cornices needed to be put up...and there was still no garage door.

Fast-forward to today when we called in...to my delight...we had a beauuuutiful caoba garage door! We just love it! As we poked our heads inside to take a look we saw cornices...I kept looking and saw something that looked like cabinetry in the living room. Our kitchen and bathroom cabinetry was there...along with our gorgeous vanity basins. I am beyond excited. I am really happy with the colour for the bathroom (fingers crossed that it looks nice with the tiles!)

We're not sure what will happen next week. I might have to do some blog research tonight to find out. We have decided to do an inbuilt wood fireplace after handover. Its only a little bit more for something that is going to look a lot nicer in our living room than a free standing fire. We are excited to be in the house for winter!

Here are a few pictures of the cabinetry and that beautiful garage door!

Plastering

Plastering was done in most areas on Friday afternoon. The cornice is still on the floor. I assume that the same people do this. The whole gyprock/plastering process should take two weeks (our SS told us). Tuesday will be two weeks. Fingers crossed they finish everything by then and the garage door goes on and then we can be locked up!

I can't wait to see how the garage door looks with the classic facade!

Gyprock has started!

Work on the gyprock started on Tuesday (9/2/15). We're not sure how the 'soundshield' plaster works...it looks like it is in some places and not in others. We requested it in all bedrooms and paid extra to have it in more rooms. Fingers crossed it's all fine.
We are hoping to meet a shutters & blinds company at the house this week to look at some samples and get some proper measurements taken.

I would be happy to move in now! It looks like a house! I know it is just going to get better from here...but this is very exciting. It would be really nice to know how much longer everything should take. I would like to have holidays when we move in. All we can do is check out other blogs and make some 'guestimates'.

We checked out the display home version of our place at Cameron Park on Saturday. Ours is the same, just flipped with a few slight changes here and there. The colours in the kitchen were similar to ours..it looked nice. It gave us some good ideas of what we should do with the back yard/ alfresco. It just made me eager to be in our place.

Electrical Rough-in Complete!

We had our pre-linings/ electrical rough-in inspection on Friday morning. We met our S.S. for the first time too. We paid for an independent inspector to check the house as this is our first time building. We didn't have any issues which was good. Our S.S. told us that we should be in well before the date we were given by MCJ (end of June). Fingers crossed it's the end of April...or May!

The front door and laundry door were put on this week. It's looking like a house!
Fingers crossed that the Gyprock will start on Monday. Apparently the whole process will take about 2 weeks. After that a carpenter will come in and hang doors etc. The garage door should go on too. We are excited about seeing that.

Now we just need to wait for the next step! I hate waiting!!!
